The family immigrated to Israel from Libya in 1948. Ephraim was born on the July 1, 1948. On July 9, Ephraim fell ill and his parents, the late Liora and Shalom Tshuva, took him to Hadassah Hospital in Tel Aviv arriving from the Be'er Ya'akov camp where they were living.
They brought him back home safe and according to their claims that evening they were sent an ambulance and he was taken from them under the claim that Ephraim was sick.
The next day, my parents went to visit him in the hospital but they were not allowed to enter. They saw him through the window and saw he was in good condition. The next day again they came to visit him – he recognized them and held his hands toward them. A friend of my parents was at the hospital and told them that his condition was good. That evening, they were told to come and take him the next day.
The next day they arrived and to their astonishment, they were told Ephraim had died, his neck having been strangled by the bars of the bed. After my grandparents protested they claimed he had died of dehydration. Despite weeks of protests and a request for help, nothing was done. My grandparents say they were shown a burial plot for the baby, and the plot was empty.
After the family turned to the investigation committees, we received a death certificate and burial records. Today after searching in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery we found the grave, and we want to begin the process requesting to open the grave.
