Baruch and Hana Elisha

Elisheva Elisha was born in 1946, in Hadassah Har HaTzofim in Jerusalem.

Daughter of Hana and Baruch who immigrated to Israel from Persia (Iran) in 1927, and settled in The Bucharim neighborhood in Jerusalem.

When she was born, she had 4 older sisters: Roza, Sara, Ester and Leah.

Later, a younger sister, Yafah, was born.

At the end of 1948, during the war in Jerusalem and close to the battle area in Sheikh Jerach, Elisheva (2yo at the time) suffered from vomiting and diarrhea. She was brought to Bikur Holim Hospital, where she was admitted. A fierce war was raging across Jerusalem at the time. Therefore, it was impossible (for the family) to get back to the hospital and check on Elisheva.

When her mother and elder sister finally managed to arrive to see her, they were told that Elisheva had died, and that she was already buried.

The family didn’t receive any documentation or information about her burial place, and - obviously – they were not presented with a body.

The medical staff claimed they are overloaded due to the ongoing war, and there was no documentation or anything of the kind.
