David and Nagiah Itzhak

We immigrated to Israel from Iraq in 1951. We were five brothers and two sisters. We arrived in Binyamina, where we stayed for a short time, and from there we moved to the transit camp (Ma’abara) of Yokne’am. At the time, my sister Suad - who was around 4 years old - did not feel well. Mother took her to Tipat Chalav (the baby care unit), where the nurse told her to take her to a hospital. Mother took her to the Hadassah Rothschild Hospital in Haifa, where they hospitalized her. Mother would visit her and one day when she arrived there, she was told that the girl had passed away. They didn't let her see a body or a death certificate. The parents accepted what they were told.

The names of the brothers: Salman (deceased, may his memory be a blessing), Razi, Soham, Eliyahu, Sabah, Said, and Isaac.
